This tournament would not be possible without two of the best people on the Planet--Lou and Valerie Skovron of the Valley Junior Golf Association. It is amazing what they have done over the past 30 years to develop so many great young players, including Temecula's own Rickie Fowler and other PGA and LPGA players including Brendan Steele, John Mallinger and Sydnee Michaels. This year we missed Hal and Elaine Yost, Director of AAU Golf, but know they will be back with us next year in good health with even more players from around the World. Thank you again Lou and Valerie for an incredible job making this year's Junior Olympics of Golf a BIG success! Yes you are right "GOLF IS GOOD FOR KIDS!" Congratulations to my good friends Shelly and Don Scott from Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia for bringing the largest Team even of Aussie and New Zealand players. Their commitment to developing Junior Golf players in Australia is inspiring and a great model to replicate around the World if we want to grow the game of golf and develop our young people. Here's Shelly's 3 boys who all earned medals from their great play this week, including 10 year old Aidan Scott for his gold medal and AAU plaque for lowest score in several age brackets. Also, way to go Ben for shooting 1 under par 71 in his final round in the boys 15 division! He's a few pics of the boys, Don and Shelly Scott and the Aussie Team and other medal winners from AZ and NZ. COME JOIN US IN JULY, 2018 AS WE GROW THE TOURNAMENT TO INCLUDE PLAYERS FROM MORE COUNTRIES. NEXT YEAR'S GOLD COULD BE YOURS!

During his recent visit to his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, Emerald Tours Marketing Director Paul Tambakis stopped off in nearby Brookline to get a classic pic with Francis Ouimet and Eddie Lowery. We have Ouimet, the "father of Amateur Golf", to thank for his stunning 1913 upset victory in the US Open at the Country Club as an amateur at age 20. Lowery, his caddie, was just 10 years old! He reminds me of my days also caddying at the Country Club, but I was smaller and carried doubles!
Ouimet was the first non-Briton elected Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974. THANKS FRANCIS for the greatest game every played! The Country Club in Brookline was selected to once again host the U.S. Open in 2022. Follow Emerald Tours as we take groups to play U.S. Open courses culminating with a visit to the final round at future US Opens, including: Shinnecock Hills in 2018, Pebble Beach in 2019, Winged Foot in 2020, TCC in 2022 and Los Angeles Country Club in 2023. Play in the footsteps of Legends! |
