Summer vacations are in full swing and airports are packed to the gills with business and leisure travelers to get from point A to point B. If you've traveled often enough like we have, then you are accustomed to seeing hordes of people swarming around airport outlets charging devices, struggling with overpriced luggage and trying to find peace and quiet in a sea of noise. We have been there oh how we have been there, and we came up with these five must-haves that we never leave home without.
Barracuda Luggage - Although it hasn't debuted on the market yet, it doesn't mean that we don't have our eye on this bag. It appears to be every travelers' dream with a built-in laptop tray, a USB charging port, an ergonomic handle and when not in use, collapses down to four inches. Our favorite part may just be that you get all of those capabilities in a hard-sided piece of luggage. Considering that it has raised more than $1 million on Kickstarter, we aren't the only ones waiting for them to start shipping. (Barracuda Luggage is open for preorders.) Anker 2nd Gen. Astro G4 Portable USB Charger - Unless airports start linking their walls with USB ports and plugs, chances are you or someone you know will end up in a far-flung airport with 5% battery life and no available charging stations. Well, it's time you did your future self a favor and purchased the Anker 2nd Gen. Astro G4 Portable USB Charger (Say that five times fast.) We love it because it has the capability to charge devices (Android and Apple smartphones and tablets), multiple times. Yes, multiple times. No one charge and you're done for us. It is a lifesaver for travelers, especially those in the middle of binge watching House of Cards when their tablet decides to die a fast death. (Anker 2nd Gen. Astro G4 Portable USB Charger $29.99 on Amazon.) Soffio Macbook Sleeve Backpack - One day, a friend couldn't stop talking about this elegant, Italian leather company's backpack, so we figured the least we could do is give it a look. To say we were impressed is an understatement. Supple leather, the kind that looks better with age, a place to organize pens, notebooks, chargers, a nice allowance for a 15" MacBook as well as the ability to convert it from a backpack to shoulder bag with just a quick adjustment of the straps gave us bag envy. No more clunky messenger bags and laptop sleeves for us anymore. (Soffio Macbook Sleeve Backpack €210.00) Bose QuietComfort 25 Headphones - There are many noise-canceling headphones on the market, but we just love Bose's QuietComfort headphones. We have tried many headphones, but it is nothing like what we have experienced with the QuietComfort line. We know when we wear these on a flight, that we are going to get all of our work done on the plane and then settle in for the best sleep we will ever have on a flight. They're compatible with Apple and Android products, so you can control your life without having to remove your gear. (Bose QuietComfort 25 Headphones $299.95) Smartphones - Yes, Apple, Samsung and everything in between. We love smartphones. They've revolutionized the way we travel with apps that can tell us everything we need to know and get us there on time. So although we will leave the smartphone brand up to personal discretion, we couldn't leave it out of our travel gear section. Downloading travel apps is a necessary part of our life, and we are grateful that we have a device which can handle it all. There you have it, some of our favorite travel gear to keep us on the move and let us arrive relatively fresh to our destinations. We can assure you that this gear will make you feel like you can conquer the world since all you need is peace and quiet, organization and a fully charged smartphone! For every reason someone tells us not to travel, we can think of a million more why we should. To put it simply, we travel because it brings us to life. There is nothing that can compare to the feeling we get when we arrive at a new destination.
Throughout the years, we've learned that everyone has a different traveling style, BUT everyone travels for the same reason. To get out and see the world. Destinations which can be scary to society has us leaning head first into what awaits. Travelers crave experiences. Travelers crave emotions. Travelers crave using their five senses to discover the multifaceted layers of a destination. Yet, the only thing which may surpass traveling is revisiting a place with someone who has never seen it before. Travel to us is as necessary as breathing. Travel imparts a knowledge that books and formal education can never give. It can widen your worldview, break down mental barriers and push you to learn a skill you never thought possible. We know that this is a small reason for why travelers head out to new places, so we must ask, why do you travel? Let us know in the comments below. We always want to know what spurns you to hit the open road, fly the friendly skies and sail the seven seas. A view from the Victoria Golf and Country Resort Sri Lanka Sri Lanka is quickly becoming a tourist destination. Although we may be a bit biased in our opinion, after all, our founder has ties to the country, we have found it to be a magical place with fabulous food and stunning vistas. This is never more evident than when one decides to hit the links in the country. Sri Lanka has rife with beautiful foliage and is one of the rare places in the world where you and your friends can enjoy unspoiled nature next to some of the top courses in the world and no membership is required at most.
Although the country doesn’t automatically pop into someone’s mind when when they think of going on an international golf vacation, we strongly urge them to consider the country. There is Victoria, ranked the best golf destination in Asia in 2005, situated among other equally beautiful and fabulous courses. However, we know that many non-golfers are in love with golfers and would rather die a slow death than accompany them on a golf vacation. Fortunately, the country has a long line of excellence in service. We strongly urge golfers and non-golfers to take time away from their extracurricular activities and indulge in one of the many spas the country has to offer. Sri Lankan spas are one of the world’s best hidden secrets and we can’t think of anything better than a luxurious spa day followed by a luxury five-course meal. Oh, it doesn’t end there. Be sure to take in a few tours of the countryside and tea time before you depart. Sri Lanka has too many gifts for you to spend them all on the links.
