EMERALD TOURS HOSTS AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR GOLF TEAM AND OTHER INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS AT THE VERITAS AAU WEST COAST JUNIOR OLYMPIC GAMES GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
More than 350 junior golfers (ages 6-18) from 22 Countries cam to Southern California last month for the 4th annual AAU Veritas West Coast Junior Olympic Games Golf Championship. This was a weeklong junior golf tournament and festival played at Tustin Ranch Golf Club in Orange County and legendary Brookside Golf Club in beautiful Pasadena. Emerald Tours handled all the travel arrangements for Team Australia with more than 20 golfers and 65 family members. This is the first time Australia sent a Team to play in the Veritas and was the first time many of them had ever been to the U.S. It was a great week that included an opening party at Roger Dunn's Super Store, an Angeles/Red Sox professional baseball game, 3 days of competition plus a practice round and then visits to Universal Studios, Disneyland and the California Adventure Park. The week concluded with medal ceremonies at the AMC Theatre at Downtown Disney with AAU Golf Chair Hal Yost and Veritas President, Robert Brown presenting medals to so many great junior players from around the World. This was not only about competing in golf at a high level, but more importantly, meeting and making lifelong friends with other kids from around the World. Special thanks to Don and Shelley Scott of Capricon Golf Resort in Yeppoon, Queensland, Australia for conducting a qualifying last April to bring their best junior players to the tournament. Emerald Tours wants to work with Junior Golf Associations and Golf Clubs worldwide to replicate what we accomplished with Australia--who walked away with 3 gold and 5 bronze medals! Not bad for their first year of competition in the U.S. This included a GOLD for Ryley Martin in the boys 18 year old division at beautiful Tustin Ranch Golf Club.
